Success at the Victoria Baby Fair!

BabyThe weekend and Event for me was a whirlwind filled with wonderful merchants, connecting with parents, and being on Main Stage for the two days of speaking about being a Stay at Home Mom, and how Moms can become Mom Entrepreneurs.

It was without a doubt, the most positive and uplifting Event I have attended in a very long time and my hat is off to the Producers of the Event, who made it all seem effortless.

Busy Days

BusyAs I prepare tonight for my trip to Victoria this weekend to speak to other women about becoming Stay at Home Moms and Mom Entrepreneurs at the Victoria Baby Fair - I am both anxious and excited at the same time.

From day one when I started writing my "Mom at Home" column, I knew I was destined to help other moms find a way to be closer to home - and closer to their children.

Mom News

Mail BoxI have lots of "Mom" News to share - but first I want to share with you my son's return to Preschool for his second year. He was so excited (for the past week we have been counting the number of "sleeps" before it was time to go to school). His clothes were laid out the night before, and his new back pack was waiting for him at the front door. (He had an apple and a picture he drew for his teacher inside of it).

His teacher loved it and gave him a big hug (a hug that he has been waiting for all summer). It was just so wonderful to see him get so excited about school and getting to see all his friends again...

BalanceIf anyone had told me five years ago that I would become a stay at home mom, I would have thought they were crazy.

The truth is once we have children - our priorities change. We are still the same people but with one very important change - we are now mothers. And as mothers, everything else in our lives becomes secondary. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as "balance" for moms, it's an urban myth. Yep - created to make us think we can do it all - and balance it all perfectly. However the real truth in life is that there is no perfect balance - only choices...

Fun Stuff

PNEWe took my son to the PNE this past week. It was so much fun, not only for my son - but for me as well. The sights, the sounds and yes, even the smells, took me back to a time in my childhood that was about pure, simple fun.

We took in the Super Dogs show, saw a parade and chatted with the barn animals...

Fall is in the Air

fall treeThe other day I was in Vancouver with my children to take my daughter to a doctor's appointment. As we were coming out of the office, I saw a woman walk by with a beautiful, long coat and leather boots. And as I looked down at my own t-shirt, capri pants and flip-flops, I realized that summer was truly over and I needed to come to terms with the changing seasons.

I guess I was hoping that the summer weather (that we never truly got) was going to be arriving late in September - but alas - the crispness in the air can truly be felt. It's time to haul the fall attire out of the garage and say goodbye to the summer that never was....
