When they asked the little girl where her home was she replied - Where mother is

Olympic Spirit

OlympicsThe past two weeks have been absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if I can really put in to words how incredible it has been to have our city host the Winter Olympics.

It's been an incredible journey these past seven years, while we waited for this to descend on our city - and to be honest, I had no idea what to expect, and neither did many Vancouverites.

But I have to say - these Olympics did a lot for our city. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, seven years ago when we were deciding on hosting such a huge event.

I was pregnant at the time with my son, and really didn't think my unborn child would really get that much out of it.  Boy - was I wrong.

I wrote an article about his Olympic Spirit last week in the Surrey Now newspaper. You can read it here:  CLICK HERE.

And Canada ended up winning 14 Gold Medals - the most won by ANY Country at ANY Olympics in history.  That's something to be proud of.

This afternoon, when Canada won the men's hockey with an incredible show down against the US, that went in to over time with Canada winning 3-2 - it was unbelievable.

It is a great day to be a Canadian and to really show how much we love our country. With people everywhere across our nation, cheering in the streets, it is truly a historic day.

I am so proud of all the athletes and all their hard work. It truly paid off. And what's so wonderful, is that my children got to be a part of it and watch the games and see the torch close up.

As years pass, they will be able to remember these games - and look back on fondly as something they  were able to experience first-hand.
