Black Bond Books
South Surrey - #1-15562 24th Avenue
I received the great news that Black Bond Books will be carrying my book in all 12 of their locations here in BC.
As today is Mother's Day, I thought it would be appropriate to post an article that I wrote a few years ago, about how a local ad in a newspaper would read if someone was looking to hire someone for the position of "MOM".
Desperately Seeking One Mom: Required Immediately!
This entails cleaning the floors and vacuuming (especially in the kitchen due to crumbs from children’s dinners and snacks that always make their way to the floors). You may need extra time in this area if pancakes, honey or juice is served - as all leave a sticky residue behind, where inevitably some unsuspecting guest will get stuck in it. Please note: You may need to clean the same area more than once during the day depending on number of times the children eat.
As well, laundry is to be done on a regimented basis to ensure that all family members have fresh clothes to wear each day. You may find yourself doing more laundry than initially intended, as the children tend to go through two to three outfits per day (see above re: eating habits) and may or may not include your husband, if it is a weekend.
Making the beds (this could sometimes be two to three times a day, depending on how many times the children jump on the bed and/or pull it apart).
Dusting is a must and cannot be overlooked. I stress this because it is a guarantee that the time you do decide not to dust, is the same day an in-law or friend will drop in to say hello and witness your bad cleaning skills......
When I woke up this morning, I was greeted by both my children with hugs and kisses. They each had things they had made me - including cards and paintings.
I was treated to coffee in bed and a delightful breakfast (which I didn't have to make or clean up) Hurray! ;)
I also received a Starbucks card and chocolates. Although I'm not sure I really WANT the chocolates so close after Easter. Perhaps that's a gift, best enjoyed by the kids....
Today is the day that Moms all over the world wait for....a day to be spoiled, a day to be appreciated and a day that celebrates all that we do for our family!
I can't begin to express what an important role being a mother is.
A few years back, I wrote an article about what it would be like if you had to place a want ad for the position of "Mother" in the newspaper. In celebration of today - I am re-printing it here on thestayathomemother website for you to enjoy.
Today my children are making me breakfast in bed (with the help of their father) and I'm looking forward to spending the morning with them.
I think I may even be able to fit in reading time with a book I've been wanting to read! This afternoon I will be out in my garden planting flowers.
I have been waiting for the last month to plant flowers, as each year I tend to buy too early and the frost gets to them - and I have to buy them all over again.
This past week, I wrote a Mother's Day article in the Surrey NOW. It's all about "Mom-isms" we pick up through the years.....
Mother's Day is almost upon us. It is a day for moms everywhere to relax and be pampered for one entire day.
And every mom has a different idea as to what constitutes a great Mother's Day.... for me, this Sunday is all about time ....
Not only to myself - but with the family too....
